COLLEGE PARK, Md. - In our ongoing efforts to provide the best possible fan experience at the University of Maryland, Maryland Athletics will be implementing several significant parking changes for the upcoming season.

The goals of these changes include:

• Improve traffic congestion in and around College Park;
• Stem the increasing practice of fans taking 2 and 3 spaces for tailgates in cash lots. Because on-campus construction continues to reduce the number of spaces available to football fans, we must take great care to maximize available spaces and lots;
• Minimize the number of confrontations between our fans and the fans of visiting teams;
• Provide an incentive for season ticket holders to join the Terrapin Club.

To meet these objectives, Maryland Athletics has made the following changes:

• Starting this season, parking permits will be required for all vehicles parking in surface lots on campus;
• Anyone without a permit - including single-game ticket holders - will be directed to available cash garages: Mowatt Lane Garage, Regents Drive Garage and Terrapin Trail Garage. As parking is limited, some fans may have to park at the College Park Metro Station or other off-campus parking lots.
• All parking permits will be color-coded and will feature detailed maps to assist fans in finding the appropriate lots, easing congestion throughout campus;
• The parking rate for all cash lots (Mowatt Lane Garage, Lot U5, Lot XX, Lot T, Paint Branch pay lot, Lot 11b, Lot 4i, Lot 4j, Lot 4b, Lot P, Lot K4, Terrapin Trail Garage, Regents Drive Garage) will be $15;
• Visiting team fans will be directed to park in designated areas to limit interaction with Maryland tailgaters;
• All season ticket holders (and Terrapin Club members who choose not to purchase season-long permits) have been automatically mailed a permit for a color-coded cash lot;
• If you would like to request a specific zone or additional cash permits, please call the Terrapin Ticket Office at 1-800-IM-A-TERP and we will attempt to honor all requests.

Important Note: Due to significant fan feedback, Maryland Athletics has decided not to implement directed parking in cash lots at this time. The color-coded zone system remains in effect.

Additionally, please note that the University has a "no pass-out" policy. Fans are not permitted to pass out parking permits to incoming traffic. Q: I have been a loyal season ticket holder, my friends and I have tailgated in Lot 11b for many years. Can I still tailgate with my friends in this cash lot, even if we arrive at different times?

A: Yes. The cash lots will operate as they always have. We ask that you respect your fellow fans and adhere to the one car per one space rule to allow plenty of room for everyone. You may set up your tailgate on any green space or at the end of your parking space (as long as you do not block the driving lanes).

Q: I was mailed a Yellow Zone Cash Permit, but I would like to park in Lot T near the Engineering Building. Can I swap permits?

A: Yes. Please call the Terrapin Ticket Office at 1-800-IM-A-TERP to request a specific color-zoned permit.

Q: I have four season tickets and received 1 cash permit with my tickets. Can I request additional cash permits?

A: Yes. Please call the Terrapin Ticket Office at 1-800-IM-A-TERP to request additional cash permits. Additional permits in Terrapin Club lots are not available.

Q: I am a Terrapin Club member with parking in Lot 1. My friend is also a Terrapin Club member who parks in Lot 9b. How can we tailgate together?

A: Lot 1 and Lot 9b are sold out, so we can not issue any additional permits in those Terrapin Club lots. The only currently available Terrapin Club surface lot is Paint Branch Lot. If you'd like to tailgate with your friend, please return your existing permits and we will provide you with the same number of permits in the Paint Branch Lot.

Q: I don't have season tickets, but plan on attending a few single games. Can I still park on campus?

A: Yes. If you order your tickets (either online or over the phone) outside of 10 calendar days, we will automatically include a color-zoned cash permit with your tickets. If you order tickets within 10 calendar days of the game (or purchase tickets at the box office at the stadium on the day of the game), you will be directed to a cash garage lot - Mowatt Lane Garage, Regents Drive Garage or Terrapin Trail Garage.

Q: What are the benefits of joining the Terrapin Club to get preferred parking?

A: There are many. First, your support of the Terrapin Club goes directly to providing scholarships for deserving student-athletes. Second, members enjoy preferred lots, better seating options inside the stadium, and a host of additional benefits.
