COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The senior trio of Katie Usher, Hayley Hanson and Christina Paul enjoyed a victorious Senior Day, as the University of Maryland volleyball team swept visiting NC State Sunday afternoon at Comcast Pavilion, 25-15, 25-21 and 25-20.

Sophomore Lisa Scott led the Terrapins with a match-best 13 kills on .435 hitting to lead Maryland to an unbeaten weekend in conference play, as the Terps ousted North Carolina, 3-1, Friday evening.

The Terps (13-17, 5-12 ACC) more or less cruised in the opening set. With the Wolfpack (7-25, 0-17 ACC) leading 4-3, Maryland responded with an 8-1 run to take an 11-5 lead and force an NC State timeout. The Wolfpack battled within three points on a couple occasions, but never closer. The Terps hit .333 in the stanza and freshman Remy McBain continued her solid play with 10 assists on 16 Maryland kills. Scott posted six of her 13 kills in set No. 1.

Maryland wasn't as sharp in the second set. The Wolfpack scored the first three points and led 7-3. But the Terps clawed their way back and caught up, 13-13, before grabbing their first lead at 14-13 on an Usher service ace.

NC State never led again in the set, but was within one at 21-20 before Maryland scored four straight points to take a 2-0 lead.

The Wolfpack had the Terps down late in the third set, 18-16. Similarly to the previous set, though, the Terps answered with a big run to put the match away. Maryland ripped off seven consecutive points with three coming on kills by Scott.

Receiving match point at 24-20, the day came to a fitting end as Usher notched the clinching kill on a set from fellow senior Hanson.

McBain continued her solid freshman season, flirting with a triple-double on 23 assists, eight kills and seven digs. Freshman Kara Bates added eight kills of her own. Hanson finished with 14 assists and freshman Sam Rosario led all players with 20 digs.

Keri DeMar led the Wolfpack with nine kills.

The Terps embark on their final road trip of the season next weekend with matches Friday and Sunday at Miami and Florida State, respectively.
