Dara Taylor, who signed a National Letter of Intent to play basketball at the University of Maryland beginning in the fall of 2009, was selected to participate in the McDonald's High School All-American Game, the organization announced today.
Taylor, a 5-foot-7 point guard from Wilmington, Del., attends Caravel Academy in Bear, Del. She is ranked by Scouts.com as the No. 6 point guard prospect in the country in the Class of '09 and the No. 52 player overall.
Taylor played AAU basketball for the Philadelphia Belles. At Caravel, she is averaging 17 points, six assists and five steals per game with the Delaware state playoffs upcoming to conclude her prep career. As a junior last season, she led Caravel to the Delaware Final Four and was named a second-team All-State player.
"We are very proud of Dara's accomplishments and extremely excited that she will play in the McDonald's High School All-American Game," Maryland head coach Brenda Frese said. "We look forward to her arrival on campus and the contributions she will make to our program in the future."
Taylor will suit up for the East team at the McDonald's High School All-American Game, which will be played April in Miami, Fla.
