GREENSBORO, N.C. - Maryland's Kristi Toliver has been named Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, the league office announced today.
Toliver averaged 15 points, 5.5 assists, 2.0 rebounds and 1.0 steals in a pair of Terrapin wins last week. On Feb. 2 at Florida State, the Terps' point guard took an inbounds pass with Maryland down two points and only 4.9 seconds on the clock, and dribbled to the 3-point line where she buried a trey at the buzzer to give the Terps a thrilling 72-71 win at previously ACC unbeaten Florida State. The play eventually claimed the No. 2 spot on ESPN's Top Plays of the Day.
She registered 15 points and seven assists in Tallahassee and followed that performance with a team-high 15-point, four-assist outing in defeating NC State, 87-66. The native of Harrisonburg, Va., went 8-for-12 from 3-point range on the week, leaving her just four 3-pointers shy from the fourth most made in ACC history.
The weekly honor marks the first ACC weekly accolade of the season for the Terrapin senior.
