Maryland Women's Tennis Falls At No. 68 Boston College

WEYMOUTH, Mass. - The Maryland women's tennis team was unable to recover from a slow start in doubles and lost to No. 68 Boston College, 7-0, Sunday in an Atlantic Coast Conference match.

The Eagles captured two of the three doubles matches to earn the first point and went on to sweep the singles matches.

Maryland's Michal Amir and Lisa Miller won at No. 1 doubles, downing Lauren Cash and Dasha Cherkasov 8-7. But BC's Katharine Attwell and Dasha Cherkasov clinched the point with an 8-5 win over Eleanor Peters and Maggie MacKeever at No. 2 doubles.

Brittany Delany's straight set (6-3, 6-4) victory over Lisa Miller at No. 5 singles clinched the match for the Eagles (6-5, 2-2).

Peters had the best showing in singles for the Terps, falling to Lana Krasnopolsky 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 at the No 1 position.

Maryland (3-10, 0-3) is back in action Saturday (noon) when it travels to Winston-Salem, N.C., to face Wake Forest. The Terps also face NC State at 1 p.m. Sunday in Raleigh.
