COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Maryland volleyball team heads south this weekend for Atlantic Coast Conference matches at Clemson and Georgia Tech Friday and Saturday, respectively.

The Terrapins (14-7, 5-4 ACC) are looking to ride their momentum from Sunday's upset win against then-No. 22 Florida State Seminoles. Maryland will first take on Clemson at 7 p.m. on Friday. Then, the Terps will continue their road trip as they travel to Atlanta to play Georgia Tech at 7 p.m. on Saturday.

Maryland is led by freshman Mary Cushman, who owns the team lead in kills (240) and is second on the team in attack percentage (.276). Recording her eighth double-double of the season with a season-high 54 assists and 12 digs in Maryland's upset win over Florida State, sophomore Remy McBain leads the Terps in assists (764). McBain also ranks seventh in the ACC with 9.67 assists per set.

Coming off an NCAA tournament appearance last season, Clemson has struggled within the conference. Entering this weekend, the Tigers own a 3-6 ACC record to accompany their 12-8 overall record.

Clemson is led by sophomore Alexa Rand, whose 1.5 total blocks per set, lead the ACC. As a team, the Tigers also rank first with 2.93 total blocks per set. Sandra Adeleye has also played well this season. So far in 2010, the sophomore has recorded 297.5 points over 77 sets, which rank her sixth in the conference.

Against the Tigers, Maryland trails 27-32 in the all-time series. In 2009, Clemson swept the Terps.

Fourth in the ACC with a 6-3 record and 13-7 overall, Georgia Tech is on a six-game winning streak which dates back to Oct. 1.

Averaging 4.47 kills per set, sophomore Monique Mead leads the conference and the Yellow Jackets in both total kills and kills per set. Mead also ranks sixth in the conference with 0.30 service aces per set.

The Terps and Yellow Jackets are locked at 25-25 all-time, though Georgia Tech defeated Maryland in both meetings last season.

Following their two-game road trip this weekend, the Terps return home to face the North Carolina State Wolfpack on Oct. 29 at 7 p.m.
