Final Stats

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland volleyball team dropped a four-set match Sunday against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets 3-1 (25-21, 18-25, 25-23, 25-15) at Comcast Pavilion. Junior Remy McBain recorded her team-high 11th double-double of the season and senior Maddi Lee finished with double-digit kills for the second straight match.

McBain had five kills to go along with 32 assists and 11 digs. Lee led the Terps with 14 kills with a .345 hitting percentage and sophomore Mary Cushman added 11 kills.

Georgia Tech's Monique Mead gave the Yellow Jackets a slight advantage at 14-10 with consecutive kills in a first set that featured 19 ties and lead changes. Maryland tied the match at 14 on a service ace from junior Caitlin Adams and led 17-15 following a kill from Lee. However, the Yellow Jackets scored five consecutive points to take control of the set and go on to win 25-21.

With the second set tied 4-4, a kill by freshman Carlisle Abele sparked a four-point Maryland run capped by back-to-back kills by Adams. The Terps increased the lead to 17-10 before Georgia Tech rallied to cut the Maryland lead to 18-15. The Terrapin defense responded and forced the Yellow Jackets to commit four consecutive errors to increase the Maryland advantage to 22-15. Cushman and Lee tallied kills to give the Terps set point. Lee recorded her fourth kill of the set to secure the frame for the Terps 25-18.

Mead had 10 kills in the third set and helped Georgia Tech to a 14-10 lead. A kill from freshman Adreene Elliott brought the Terps within one point at 16-15, and following an error by Georgia Tech, sophomore Caroline Niski scored a service ace to give the Terps the lead. The set remained close and after Mead recorded a kill to tie the set at 23 the Yellow Jackets scored the next two points to take the set.

A Georgia Tech service error tied the fourth set at 10. The Yellow Jackets then scored the next four points to take command of the set. Georgia Tech used three 3-point spurts to increase its lead to 19-13. Maryland did not get any closer as the Yellow Jackets took the set 25-15.
