COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Playing its third ranked opponent in eight days, the No. 24 University of Maryland women's tennis team fell to 4th-ranked Duke 6-1 Sunday afternoon.

Maryland falls to 11-4 on the season, 1-4 in the tough ACC. The Blue Devils improved to 15-2, 4-0 in ACC play.

Reigning ACC Women's Tennis Player of the Week, junior Cristina Sanchez-Quintanar, pulled off another upset, easily defeating the Blue Devils 50th-ranked Nadine Fahoum in straight sets 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1 singles to improve to 14-0 in the dual season.

Sanchez-Quintanar has dropped only two sets since joining the Terps in January. She has defeated all four ranked opponents in straight sets.

After losing for the first time in the dual season Friday vs. North Carolina, Sanchez-Quintanar and doubles partner Jordaan Sanford rebounded nicely, defeating Duke's Ellah Nze and Rachel Kahan 8-2 to get the Terps on the board first at No. 1 doubles

Junior Ana Belzunce battled tough against 72nd-ranked Nze at No. 2 singles, battling back from down 4-2 in the second set to force a third set tiebreaker, ultimately falling 6-2, 4-6, 1-0 (10-1).

The Terps get a couple of days off before heading to Atlanta to face George Tech Friday at 2:00 p.m. Eastern time. The Yellow Jackets are currently ranked 20th in the country.
