PRINCETON, N.J. - Maryland's 4x800-meter relay team joined freshman Amina Smith with second-place finishes to highlight Terrapin performances at the ECAC Outdoor Championships hosted by Princeton.

Those finishes helped Maryland to a tie for fifth in the women's team standings with 31 points. Duke won the women's team competition with 73.75 points, followed by Connecticut (65), Virginia (61.5) and Cornell (33).

The Terrapins 4x800 relay of Ashley Cromartie, Taylor Bumpas, Ariana Tabatabaie and Julie Sinkovitz finished second in 8:53.44. The squad, which included two freshmen and a sophomore had set the Maryland school record earlier in the season with a run of 8:51.59 at the Penn Relays.

Smith finished second in the women's high jump at 5-8. Smith was one of only four competitors over the bar at 5-8 and earned the second spot by virtue of fewer misses at that height.

Junior Jessie Echard had a career-best throw in the women's hammer for the second straight meet, earning seventh place with a mark of 182-11. She went 180-0 two weeks ago at the Kehoe Twilight Meet at home. Echard's mark moved her into fourth place all-time at Maryland.

Junior DeAnna Brown was fifth in the women's 100-meter dash. She ran 12.06 in Sunday's final, but went 11.81 in the preliminary heats to post Maryland's best mark of the season in that event and earn a season-best. She was the second-fastest qualifier out of prelims and was third in the semifinals with an 11.83 clocking.

Brown also went 24.55 to finish 10th in the women's 200 prelims, getting a season-best in that event. D'Ambour Lewis went 24.53 to place ninth in the preliminaries but just missed qualifying for Sunday's final.

Ashley Hendrix was 10th in the women's long jump at 19-0.75.

Moriah Young finished sixth in the women's shot put with a mark of 48-2.50. It was her fourth straight performance of the season above 48 feet. Senior Kristen Batts went 156-0 to place third in the women's discus.

On the men's side, senior Dan McDevitt placed 14th in the 10,000 meters in a season-best 31:00.49. Freshman Josh Haghighi was 15th in the shot put with a mark of 51-7.
