AKRON, Ohio - Seven members of the Maryland wrestling team will travel to the campus of the University of Akron this weekend for the 2012 ASICS University & FILA Cadet National Championships at the Louis and Freda Stile Athletic Field House.

The tournament is estimated to bring over 1,100 athletes from across the nation. Both age divisions -- Cadet and University -- will compete in the Olympic styles of Greco-Roman and Freestyle. Action in the Greco-Roman division will begin Friday, June 1, at 9 a.m., with the Freestyle division commencing Saturday, June 2, at 9 a.m.

In the Freestyle division, rising sophomore Shane Arechiga (63 kg), All-American Josh Asper (79 kg), rising junior Ben Dorsay (74 kg), rising junior Frank Goodwin (66 kg) and rising redshirt junior Jimmy Sheptock (79 kg) will take to the mat.

In the Greco-Roman division, rising junior Danny O'Malley and rising sophomore Sean O'Malley will wrestle at 66 kg.

Clay Buchholz will represent Terrapin Wrestling Club at 120 kg in the Greco-Roman and Freestyle divisions. Brady Massaro will wrestle for Blue Claw wrestling club at 70 kg in the Freestyle division.

ASICS University athletes are 18 to 24 years of age (born 1988-1994) and will feature some of the nation's top wrestlers from college wrestling programs and U.S. Military teams.

The finalists at the seven Olympic weight classes only qualify for the 2012 University World Team Trials in Colorado Springs, Colo., on Aug. 17-18.
