GREENSBORO, N.C. -
Five members of the University of Maryland men's lacrosse team were named to the 2012 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic team as announced by Commissioner John D. Swofford.
Leading the way for the Terps is junior Owen Blye, who made the team for the third time. Joining Blye on the team from Maryland are fellow juniors Jesse Bernhardt, Landon Carr and Billy Gribbin and redshirt sophomore Mike Chanenchuk.
Bernhardt is one of four men's lacrosse student-athletes who earned All-Conference honors this past season, while also securing a spot on the All-ACC Academic squad.
Blye is one of 13 repeat selections to the All-ACC Academic team.
Duke senior CJ Costabile, a senior History major, was named the conference's men's lacrosse scholar athlete of the year.
Duke led the way with 14 student-athletes on the team, while Maryland and North Carolina had five each. Virginia had just one representative on the team.
To be eligible for All-ACC Academic Team consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career.
