Terps Travel to Face Two Ranked Foes

March 29, 2013

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland women's tennis team continues its three-match road trip with two matches this weekend. On Saturday, the Terps will take on No. 15 Clemson, with play slated to begin from the Hoke Sloan Tennis Center at 11 a.m. The following day, the Terrapins will travel to No. 33 Georgia Tech to face the Yellow Jackets at Ken Byers Tennis Complex at 11 a.m.

The Terrapins (5-8, 0-3 ACC) enter this weekend's matches off of a tough contest at Brown last Thursday. After taking the doubles point, the Terps struggled in singles, losing all but one match en route to a 5-2 defeat. Freshman Gabriela Srodowski accounted for the visitors' only match victory, a 6-4, 6-7 (6), (11-9) victory over Nikita Uberoi.

Senior Vroni Van Berlo has lead a young Terps squad this season, accumulating an 8-5 singles record at the No. 1 singles position while also playing at No. 1 doubles.

Maryland is 0-5 away from College Park this season and has not won a road match since a 5-2 victory over Columbia last season. With the Brown loss, the Terrapins finished their non-conference slate with a 5-5 record.
