Aust Named ACC Player of the Week

March 5, 2013

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Maryland attacker Alex Aust has been named Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week, announced Tuesday.

Aust racked up 19 points in two games to help No. 1 Maryland stay perfect at 5-0 in 2013. The senior tallied five goals and five assists as the Terrapins defeated No. 6 Virginia 18-10 on the road Friday for their third-straight win over a top-10 foe. The 10-point total is tied for the third highest in Maryland single-game history.

On Sunday, the native of Sterling, Va., tallied four goals and five assists to help drop Hofstra, 16-11. Aust has at least a hat trick in each game this season and leads the conference with 32 points.

North Carolina senior goalkeeper Lauren Maksym was named defensive player of the week.

Maryland welcomes UMBC Tuesday at 5 p.m. at the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex.
