Mike Costantino Bio

On Costantino: May be the best pure hitter on the team ... had an outstanding freshman year, as well as a great summer in the New England Collegiate League ... strength has greatly increased due to work in the weight room and maturity ... since last year, has turned into a guy that will hit the ball out of the park rather than just line drives ... has the potential to hit for both average and power.

As a Freshman (2003): Had an impressive debut at the collegiate level, starting more games than any other freshman ... finished third on the team in hitting, with an average of .309 ... showed good patience at the plate, having more walks (20) than strikeouts (19) ... showed great improvement defensively as the season wore on ... tied for second on the team with 19 multiple-hit games ... hit two home runs over a three-game span against Florida State and William & Mary from May 10 to May 14 ... went 3-for-4 with an RBI vs. Georgetown (April 8) ... went 3-for-5 with two doubles in an 11-3 rout of William & Mary (April 2) ... hit his first career homerun and had a career-high three RBI vs. Georgia Tech (March 23) ... went 12-for-30 (.400) over a six-game hit streak from March 8 to March 25 ... had his first career three-hit game vs. Wake Forest (March 15) ... went 2-for-4 with two RBI vs. Towson (March 11) ... drove in his first career RBI vs. Marist (March 9) ... collected his first collegiate hit vs. Kentucky (Feb. 14).

At Somerset: Was a four-year letterman at Somerset High School ... selected by the Minnesota Twins in the 37th round of the 2002 Major League Baseball draft ... owns eight career high school records - hits (130), batting average (.438), RBI's (99), doubles (35), triples (11), extra base hits (59), at-bats (297) and runs (95) ... three-time EAC All-Star selection ... twice named to Massachusetts all-state team ... earned team MVP honors as a senior ... acted as team captain during 2001 and 2002 seasons ... coached by Larry Thomas.

Personal: Born Oct. 16, 1983 ... son of Debra and Gary Costantino ... a letters and sciences major.
