2003 Update:
• Started final 29 games of his career, 7.23 GAA (ranking 8th in the nation, first in ACC) and 61.0 Sv. Pct (11th in nation).
• Had a 5.27 GAA and 69.6 save pct. over four-game span from Notre Dame through UMass games.
• Made 15 saves for third time this year in NCAA Quarterfinal win over UMass (5/17), against nation's third leading offense.
• Allowed just one goal in first 54:28, and made 13 saves in NCAA First Round win over Ohio State (5/11).
• Picked up 10th win of year with six saves at Notre Dame (5/3).
• Made 14 saves, allowed just five goals in win over G'town (4/28).
• Eighth win of year with 9 svs. vs. UMBC (4/25) on Senior Night.
• Stopped 11 Navy (4/5) in seventh win of the season.
• 15 saves at Virginia (3/29), held UVa scoreless for 33:06.
• Made 10 saves in 47:02 of action vs. Butler (3/25).
• 15 saves vs. UNC (3/22); Stopped 9 shots vs. Bucknell (3/11).
• Made 11 saves in win at Towson (3/8).
• Career-high 17 saves in win over Duke (3/2), stopped 16 of 17 shots on goal over 50 min. span from first to fourth quarter.
• Named ACC Player of the Week and Maryland Student-Athlete of Week on March 3 after Duke win.
On McCormick: Senior team captain … a preseason honorable mention All-American by Face-Off Inside Lacrosse Magazine … was a USILA honorable mention All-American in his first season a starter last year … filled the shoes of first team All-American Pat McGinnis very admirably, leading the nation in goals against average (6.73) … southpaw between the pipes … an extremely quick and competitive goalie … fifth year in the program gives him lots of experience… played at a high level in high school at Landon School, as the starter for all four years for one of the nation's top programs … one of four Terps from the prep school.
As a redshirt-junior (2002): Emerged as a USILA honorable mention All-American … led the nation in goals against average (6.73) and finished 15th in save percentage (.595) after ranking in the top 10 most of the year … started all 13 games in his first year as the team's starter … made 122 saves in posting a 9-4 record … allowed just three goals, making 14 saves in first career start vs. Hobart (2/23) … played first 38:11 vs. Mount St. Mary's (2/26), making four saves to contribute to Terps' first shutout in 32 years (4/20/70 vs. Duke) … made 12 saves at Duke (3/2) … made eight saves both at Bucknell (3/12) and vs. Towson (3/9) … allowed just three goals and made 11 saves vs. Delaware (3/16) … equaled career high with 14 saves at North Carolina (3/23), with just 5 GA … allowed just five goals vs. Navy (4/5), marking the sixth time he allowed six goals or less … posted 12 saves at Johns Hopkins (4/13) including seven in fourth quarter … made 11 saves vs. Yale (4/26), allowing just eight goals.
As a redshirt-sophomore (2001): Played in six games, coming on in reserve action for McGinnis … gave up just six goals in 80 minutes of play for a 4.50 goals against average … made 18 saves for a .750 save percentage … played the final 33:48 against Air Force (2/24), making five saves and allowing just one goal … had short stints in the fourth quarters against Delaware (3/17) and Bucknell (3/27) … played the final 15 minutes at Mount St. Mary's (4/25), making one save … made four saves in 8:32 at Yale (4/28) … closed the regular-season with 15:20 against UMBC (5/5), making six saves … member of the ACC and Maryland honor rolls.
As a redshirt-freshman (2000): Saw first collegiate action, playing in five games as a reserve to McGinnis … in 41 minutes, allowed seven goals for a 10.24 goals against average and made 16 saves for a 69.6 save percentage ... made college debut playing the fourth quarter against Mount St. Mary's (2/27) … made career-high seven saves in debut … played nine minutes against Delaware (3/15), making three saves … made three saves in final 11 minutes at Johns Hopkins (4/16) … made three saves in five minutes at UMBC (5/6) … made NCAA Tournament debut playing final 46 seconds against Princeton (5/20) … member of the ACC Honor Roll.
As a freshman (1999): Sat out season to gain more experience.
Before Maryland: Two-sport star at the Landon School in Bethesda, Md. … lettered in lacrosse four times under coach Rob Bordley … lacrosse team compiled a 65-8 record during his four years … won four IAC conference championships … lacrosse captain … all-league, all-county three times … all-metropolitan area twice … 1998 player of the year in the IAC … three-time letterwinner in football at linebacker … also was an outstanding punter … won two IAC championships in football … gridders compiled 23-4 record over his three years.
