2003 Update:
• Career-high four goals and seven points as a senior.
• Ran with first midfield early on this year, finished with second midfield and as man-up specialist.
• Scored to make it 3-0 vs. Ohio State (5/11) in NCAA First Round.
• Assisted Dan LaMonica goal in 3rd qtr. vs. Duke (4/18) in ACC.
• Scored 10th career goal vs. Butler (3/25) to open scoring.
• Assisted Joe Walters' man-up goal in third qtr. vs. UNC (3/22).
• In return to hometown, scored a goal at Stony Brook (3/15).
• Scored second goal of year vs. Bucknell (3/11) in first quarter.
• Scored Terps' first goal of 2003, 56 seconds into Duke game (3/2).
• Teams with brother Chris for one of two brother tandems on the Terps (along with the Healys).
On Passavia: A senior veteran, who was one of the Terps' most improved players last season … an extremely skilled midfielder with good shooting skills … being counted to add scoring punch as a senior …saw time on the extra-man unit for much of his junior season … comes from tremendous high school program in Ward Melville … has good instincts … teammate of brother Chris for the third year in a row on the collegiate level after winning the state title with him in high school.
As a junior (2002): Ran with the third midfield and was a member of the man-up unit … played in all 13 games … posted three goals and six points … had his second career multi-point game vs. Hobart (2/23) with a goal and assist … notched goal at Bucknell (3/12), as did brother Chris, marking the first time both Passavias scored in the same game … assisted Matt Brock goal in third quarter vs. Delaware (3/16) … posted his third career multi-point game with a man-up goal and an assist vs. Virginia (3/30).
As a sophomore (2001): Played in 13 of 16 games … missed the first three games of the season with a separated left shoulder … returned to action at Towson (3/10) … played in a reserve midfield role for much of the season … notched only point against UMBC (5/5) with an assist.
As a freshman (2000): Played in 13 of 16 games … tallied three goals and one assist for four points playing as part of the “freshman midfield” unit … one of six freshmen to score his first college goal in the win over Mount St. Mary's (2/27) … also posted first assist for first multi-point game against Mount St. Mary's … scored second goal against Bucknell (3/7), giving Maryland a 2-1 lead it would never relinquish … third goal came against Delaware (3/15) in the first quarter.
Before Maryland: Played lacrosse and soccer at Long Island power Ward Melville High School in East Setauket, N.Y. … Patriots compiled a 62-1 record over his final three years under coach Joe Cuozzo … started at midfield for three years and captured 1997 and 1999 New York state championships … named school's Male Athlete of the Year as a sophomore and senior … earned all-county and all-league as a senior … named Suffolk County Soccer Player of the Year in 1998 … won school's Senior Athlete of the Year Award.
