PHILADELPHIA – The Maryland women's tennis team finished up play at the Cissie Leary in Philadelphia, Sunday.
Three Terps participated in the three-day event, with juniors Nataliya and Olga Bredikhina playing in singles Flight A and sophomore Cassandre Thebault playing in singles Flight B. The Bredikhina sisters also combined to play doubles while Thebault paired with Princeton student-athlete Sara Goodwin.
On day one, Nataliya Bredikhina won her first match in singles, defeating Katrine Steffensen of Princeton, 7-6, 2-6, 10-8. Bredikhina would fall in the second round to June Lee of Harvard. Olga Bredikhina dropped her first round contest to Harvard's Nikki Kallenberg, 3-6, 6-0, 10-6.
In Flight B, Thebault defeated Melissa Minniti of Penn State in the first round before falling to Yale's Caroline Lynch.
Thebault and Olga Bredikhina won singles consolation matches and combined to win a doubles consolation affair.
The Terps return to tournament action next weekend at the Tribe Invitational in Williamsburg, Va.
