• Maryland is 29-0 all-time against Penn State since first meeting in 1924 - the Terrapins' inaugural season as a lacrosse program. The Terps have won by an average margin of 10 goals in the series, last defeating Penn State, 14-10, in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on May 14, 2005.
• Maryland's defense is allowing just 4.78 goals/g - nearly two goals better than the next best team (Army - 6.40 goals/g). The Terps have allowed 43 goals through seven games, the fewest in that stretch since 1968 - 46 years ago.
• The Terrapin defense has held all nine teams it has faced to a scoreless stretch of at least 11 minutes. This includes a 33+ minute stretch against North Carolina - the third-highest scoring team in NCAA.
• Junior goalkeeper Kyle Bernlohr continues to lead the nation in goals against average (4.49) and save percentage (.697) after allowing just three goals against Michigan. He was named Big Ten Co-Specialist of the Week for his efforts against Robert Morris and Michigan.
• Senior faceoff specialist Charlie Raffa has found his groove over his last four appearances, winning 52-of-72 faceoffs (.722) and picking up 23 ground balls. He has won at least 11 faceoffs in all four games, including a season-high 15 wins against then-No. 2 North Carolina. Raffa needs just five ground balls to pass Jack Francis (1980-83) for third all-time in Maryland history.
• Maryland picked up its seventh consecutive win last Saturday with a 13-4 win over Michigan in its inaugural Big Ten Conference matchup. The Terps got a lift offensively from short stick defensive midfielder and faceoff wing Isaiah Davis-Allen, who scored his first two career collegiate goals.
• In addition to Bernlohr being named Co-Specialist of the Week, senior defender Casey Ikeda earned his third Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week honor of the season after picking up four ground balls against Michigan. A Maryland player has captured the defensive honor six of seven possible weeks.
• Maryland won its 29th consecutive game when scoring at least 10 goals with its victory against Robert Morris. It was Maryland's seventh consecutive double-digit scoring game of the season. The Terps have not lost when scoring at least 10 goals since a 13-11 loss to Colgate on May 5, 2012.
• Freshman Matt Neufeldt has had an outstanding rookie season for the Terps, currently leading the team with 31 ground balls and 11 caused turnovers. The long pole has been effective on the faceoff wing and the defensive end.

Coaching Match-Up
• John Tillman is in his eighth season as a head coach, and fifth with the Terps, with a 76-39 career record for a .661 winning percentage. Tillman is 56-20 (.737) as Maryland's head coach, recently becoming the fastest in program history to reach the 50-win milestone.
• Penn State's Jeff Tambroni is in his fifth season with the Nittany Lions, collecting a 38-30 (.559) overall record.
Series history vs. Penn state
• Maryland defeated Penn State, 8-1, in its inaugural season and has not lost since, defeating the Nittany Lions in all 29 matchups and winning by an average margin of 10 goals.
• Maryland and Penn State last met on May 14, 2005, in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in College Park, Md., with the Terps winning, 14-10. The third-seeded Terps were the beneficiaries of a combined eight points from Joe Walters and Xander Ritz. Maryland totaled seven goals in the third quarter to break the game open.

• Matt Rambo posted his fourth hat trick of the season to lead the No. 3 Maryland men's lacrosse team to a 13-4 victory over Michigan in its inaugural Big Ten Conference contest.
• Maryland goalkeeper Kyle Bernlohr allowed just three goals in 54:45 of action, while sophomore Isaiah Davis-Allen (2) and freshman Matt Neufeldt scored their first career collegiate goals in the win.
Nation's top-ranked Defense
• The Terps boast the nation's top-ranked defense, allowing just 4.88 goals/g through eight contests in 2015. There is only one other team allowing less than seven goals per game in Division I (Army - 6.67).
• Maryland's success is due in large part to its ability to hold opposing teams scoreless for long stretches of the game. The Terps have held all eight of their opponents scoreless for at least 11 minutes, and have totaled eight different stretches of at least 20 scoreless minutes (including a 56:17 span vs. Drexel).
2nd-Ranked North Carolina Stymied
• Maryland improved to 40-24 all-time against North Carolina with an impressive 10-8 victory over the then-undefeated Tar Heels. The Terrapin defense held UNC to eight goals below its season average.
• The Terrapins were tremendous in all facets, led offensively by five goals from Joe LoCascio and a hat trick by Colin Heacock. Senior Charlie Raffa secured 15-of-22 faceoffs at the faceoff X, while goalkeeper Kyle Bernlohr made 11 saves in net.
Terps Hold Villanova to Two Goals
• Senior Charlie Raffa won 13-of-16 faceoffs and Matt Rambo totaled four points to lead the No. 8 Maryland men's lacrosse team to an 11-2 victory over No. 15 Villanova.
• The nation's top scoring defense lived up to its billing, as the Terps held Villanova scoreless for stretches of 28:54 and 28:04 in the win. Goalkeeper Kyle Bernlohr made nine saves, improving his season save percentage to a nation's best .708.
• Senior defender Casey Ikeda earned his second consecutive Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week honor for scooping three ground balls and causing one turnover in the win.
Maryland Downs 10th-ranked Princeton
• Sophomore Matt Rambo tallied his second hat trick of the season to lead Maryland to an 11-4 victory over Princeton in a top-10 matchup.
• The Maryland defense was superb in the outing, holding the high-powered Princeton offense (previously averaging 14.7 goals/g) to just four tallies on 13 percent shooting. Casey Ikeda was named USILA National Defensive Player of the Week and Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week for his effort.
• Charlie Raffa turned in his best game of the season, going 13-for-20 at the faceoff X to lead Maryland. The senior keyed a 6-0 third quarter Maryland run by winning 7-of-9 faceoffs in the frame.
Terps Cruise by Drexel
• After falling behind, 2-0, the Terps held Drexel scoreless for a stretch of 56:17 to cruise to a 12-3 victory on Feb. 28.
• Freshman LSM Matt Neufeldt gathered five ground balls in the win, completing an excellent two-game week in which he totaled eight ground balls and caused five turnovers. He was awarded Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts.

Holding Opponents To Single-Digits
• Maryland is 139-27 in games since 2002 when it allows nine goals or less, for an .835 winning percentage.
• The Terps have also won 87 percent (71-10 record overall) of its games since 2009 when allowing less than 10 goals.
• The Terps are 20-1 when allowing nine goals or less since the beginning of 2014.The Terps' lone loss last season came to eventual national finalist Notre Dame, 6-5, at the ACC Tournament.
Consecutive 10-Win Seasons
• Maryland's 12-8 win over 8th-ranked Notre Dame on April 19, 2014 extended the Terps' streak of double-digit win seasons to 12, which is the longest active streak in NCAA Division I men's lacrosse.

• Cornell's string of seven-straight 10+ win seasons came to an end in 2012 with a 9-4 final mark. Virginia's streak of eight-consecutive seasons with 10+ wins ended in 2013 with a 7-8 record, while Siena saw its run of six 10-win seasons end in 2013 also.
The 700 Club
• Maryland's 15-6 victory over Penn on April 14, 2009 was the program's 700th victory in 84 seasons of varsity men's lacrosse. The Terps join Johns Hopkins, Syracuse, Navy, Army and Cornell as the only programs with 700 or more Division I wins.
• Two things that make Maryland's accomplishment all the more impressive is that the Terps reached the 700-win plateau in just their 84th season. Only Syracuse reached win No. 700 in as few seasons, but it took the Orange 53 more games than Maryland. In fact, Maryland needed only 940 games to reach 700 wins and only Johns Hopkins needed fewer games (932) to hit the historic number, but the Blue Jays did so in their 105th season.

Terps' 90th Season Of Lacrosse
• The Terps boast an all-time record of 760-257-4 (.746), dating back to the first varsity team in 1924 (a team was not fielded in 1944 and 1945 due to World War II). Maryland has finished every one of its previous 89 seasons with a .500 or better record, including last season when the Terps went 12-6. The program reached the 700-win milestone with a 15-6 victory over Penn on April 14, 2009 at Ludwig Field.
• During the decade of the 2000s, Maryland went 111-49 for a .694 win percentage, making it the winningest decade in Terrapin lacrosse history. In the decade of the 1990s, Maryland posted a 95-47 record. The .669 winning percentage matched Maryland's win percentage of the 1980s when the Terps went 83-41 and also compiled a .669 win percentage.
• Prior to the 2015 season, Maryland is 38-13 in the 2010s for a .750 winning percentage - on pace for the best decade in Maryland history.
Three Taken In MLL Draft
• Led by senior midfielder Joe LoCascio, three Maryland men's lacrosse student-athletes were chosen in the 2014 Major League Lacrosse collegiate draft.
• LoCascio was chosen 17th overall by the Florida Launch, and was quickly followed by Charlie Raffa, who was selected 24th overall by the Chesapeake Bayhawks.
• Defender Casey Ikeda was the final Terp taken in the draft, chosen 54th overall by Florida.
2015 Team Captains
• Charlie Raffa, Casey Ikeda, Jay Carlson and Matt Dunn will represent the Terrapins as captains for the 2015 season.
Inaugural Big Ten Season
• The 2015 season marks the University of Maryland's men's lacrosse team's inaugural campaign competing in the Big Ten Conference. It follows an announcement from the conference office on June 3, 2013 that the Big Ten had secured six men's teams when Johns Hopkins was accepted as a sport affiliate member for men's lacrosse only. The Big Ten has six men's programs: Maryland, Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State and Rutgers.
• The six programs that will comprise Big Ten men's lacrosse boast 56 national championships, with schools that have competed for more than a century. Johns Hopkins has been an independent since 1883 and leads all schools with 44 national championships. Maryland has claimed 11 national titles, while Rutgers has also won a national championship.
• The Scarlet Knights launched men's lacrosse in 1887, followed by programs starting in 1913 for Penn State, 1924 for Maryland and 1953 for Ohio State. Michigan instituted a men's lacrosse program in 2012. Maryland, Ohio State and Penn State each qualified for the NCAA Men's Lacrosse Championship this season, with the Buckeyes advancing to the quarterfinals.
