COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland wrestling team welcomed past wrestlers and supporters alike at the tenth annual Wrestling Golf Outing at the University of Maryland Golf Course Friday.
Over 130 golfers participated in the event, which is help to support the wrestling program.
"The biggest thing is getting our alums back," head coach Kerry McCoy said. "It's good to be able to connect with our alums and all of our supporters. Our new kids and our old kids get to mingle with our alums and share stories. The interaction with our support group is great."
The event began at 7 a.m., and a lunch at 1:30 p.m., brought it to a conclusion. An auction was also help in support of the wrestling program.
With returning NCAA qualifiers Geoffrey Alexander and Lou Mascola, along with prized redshirt freshman Alfred Bannister and a top-20 recruiting class, McCoy is excited for the Terps' second season in the Big Ten.
"I'm really excited about the combination of the guys returning and the new guys coming in. I can't be more happy with the state of our program right now with the potential we have. We just have to focus on our goals."
