COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Maryland baseball players Taylor Bloom and Nick Dunn were named top prospects in the Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League by Perfect Game.
Dunn was named First Team All-League after a standout summer for the Silver Spring Takoma Thunderbolts. The freshman batted .321 with seven doubles, 17 runs scored and 17 RBIs. The Sunbury, Pa., product should factor into the Maryland infield this season.
After playing a starring role in the Terps' regional championship victory over top overall seed UCLA, Bloom took the momentum into the summer, dominating CRCBL hitting to the tune of 38 strikeouts in 30 and 2/3 innings. Bloom went 3-0 with a 1.76 ERA for the Gaithersburg Giants.
Bloom will be a major part of the Terrapin staff in 2016 after his great finish to his debut campaign. The Maryland native ended with a 4.01 ERA with 28 strikeouts over 33 and 2/3 innings.
