The Terps traveled to Philadelphia to face-off against No.65 Penn. The Quakers won over Maryland, 5-2. This loss puts Maryland at 2-6 on the season.
The afternoon started off slow for the Terps, with Terp duo Alexandra Stanova and Kristina Hovsepyan falling to Sonya Latycheva and Kana Daniel, 6-3. The Quakers stole the doubles point with a win from Ria Vaidya and Marta Qostal defeating Ekaterina Tour and Arnelle Sullivan, 6-2.
In Singles play, Terps Sullivan lost to Daniel by a score of 7-6(5) and 6-1. On the second court Stanova came up short against Penn's Vaidya, falling 6-4 and 6-3.
Nataliya Bredikhina topped Sonya Latycheva in three sets, giving Maryland some momentum, 3-6,6-3 and 6-1.
The Quakers responded with two wins from Lina Qostal over Kristina Hovsepyan, 6-2, 6-5 and Marta Kowalska giving Caroline Williams a 6-1, 6-4 loss.
Olga Bredikhina ended the match by giving Maryland its final point, defeating Luba Vazhenina, 6-2, 6-4.
Maryland will travel to New Jersey on Sunday to begin B1G Conference against Rutgers.
