Terps, Princeton to Meet for 44th Time

The 11th-ranked Maryland men's lacrosse team ends a four-game road trip this weekend as it travels to Princeton for the 44th installment of a series that began in 1927. The Terps are fresh off the heels of a key midweek victory at Drexel, 12-8, as juniors Colin Heacock and Matt Rambo combined for seven goals in the win.

Facing off

• Senior transfer Pat Young is set to make his first trip back to his nearby hometown of Ewing, N.J. for the first time in his career. He never played at Princeton during his days at UMBC. Young broke through with his first two goals in a Maryland uniform against Drexel Tuesday.

• Junior Colin Heacock scored a career-high four goals in the Terps' 12-8 win over Drexel Tuesday, while junior Isaiah Davis-Allen secured a career-high five ground balls. Heacock leads the Terps with nine goals this season.

• Maryland scored five goals in a span of 3:46 in the third quarter to take a commanding 9-3 lead over Princeton in last season's meeting in College Park. Matt Rambo tallied a hat trick in the 11-4 win, while Kyle Bernlohr made 11 saves in net.

• Maryland and Princeton met six times between 1992 and 2006 - all in the postseason. The Tigers took the first five meetings (including two national title games), while Maryland claimed the last postseason meeting in 2006.

• Drexel scored on its lone extra man opportunity against the Terps, snapping a string of 10 consecutive EMO kills by the Maryland defense dating back to Feb. 20. The Terps held top-5 teams Yale (0-for-5) and Notre Dame (0-for-3) scoreless on the EMO, and are 2-for-12 overall (16.7%).

• Senior long pole Greg Danseglio has been a welcome  addition to the Terps in 2016, leading non-FOGO Terps with 16 ground balls and four caused turnovers. The Virginia transfer, who sat out last season, has been a seamless transtion in the wake of LSM Matt Neufeldt, who is missing the 2016 season to injury.

• Maryland will play the last of its four straight road games at Princeton Saturday, ending a span of 25 days away from home for the Terps. Maryland returns home against Albany on March 16 on ESPNU.

• Maryland and Princeton are set to meet for the 44th time in history. The Terps hold a formidable 30-12-1 all-time advantage in the series, including a 14-4 mark on the road. This is Maryland's first trip to Princeton since 1992, and first regular season trip since 1977.

•  The Terrapins are 52-4 under John Tillman when scoring at least 10 goals in a game, including a spectacular mark of 33-1 over the last four seasons. That trend continued with Maryland's 12-8 win over Drexel.

• Junior Matt Rambo scored his 75th career goal during his hat trick against Drexel, and currently sits tied for 26th in Maryland history with 77. He is also tied for 43rd in Maryland history in points with 106.

TERPS' 91st SEASON OF LACROSSE

• The Terps boast an all-time record of 775-261-4 (.740), dating back to the first varsity team in 1924 (a team was not fielded in 1944 and 1945 due to World War II). Maryland has finished every one of its previous 90 seasons with a .500 or better record, including last season when the Terps went 15-4. The program reached the 700-win milestone with a 15-6 victory over Penn on April 14, 2009 at Ludwig Field.

• During the decade of the 2000s, Maryland went 111-49 for a .694 win percentage, making it the winningest decade in Terrapin lacrosse history. In the decade of the 1990s, Maryland posted a 95-47 record. The .669 winning percentage matched Maryland's win percentage of the 1980s when the Terps went 83-41 and also compiled a .669 win percentage.

• Through the 2015 season, Maryland is 53-17 in the 2010's for a .757 winning percentage - on pace for the best decade in Maryland history.
