The Maryland Women's Tennis team notched a 4-3 victory over the Iowa Hawkeyes. With this win the Terps improve to 6-7 on the season and 3-1 in Big Ten Conference play.

The Terps started the day out strong by blanking Iowa in doubles play. Ekaterina Tour and Arnelle Sullivan snapped a two match losing streak by claiming a 6-3 victory over Hawkeye duo Aimee Tarun and Carin Runefelt. Maryland snatched the doubles point with a 6-4 win from Caroline Williams and Nataliya Bredikhina. 

Maryland carried the momentum into singles play, snatching wins in the No. 2 and No. 6 positions from Sullivan and Tour. 

The Hawkeyes gained some speed when N. Bredikhina fell to Iowa's Kristen Thoms by a score of 6-3, 4-6, 6-2. Annette Dohanics and Anastasia Reimchen defeated Kristina Hovsepyan, 1-6, 6-3, 6-2, and Alexandra Stanova, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3.

"I think we started a little slow on some courts but we were able to get back into it. Very proud of Cassandre, she started the third set knowing that she was the deciding point and she played great" Coach Daria Panova said.

Cassandre Thebault shut the door on the Iowa and extended her singles winning streak to three with a 7-6, 6-2 triumph over Tarun.

The Terps return home to College Park for a three conference match stretch next weekend. They will face Illinois Sunday, March 27, at 11:00 A.M.
