COLLEGE PARK, Md. – A trio of Maryland men's lacrosse players were honored by the Big Ten Conference this week after defeating then-No. 12 North Carolina Saturday, 11-8.
Junior Tim Muller earned his second Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week honor of the season, while senior goalkeeper Kyle Bernlohr was named Big Ten Specialist of the Week and sophomore Connor Kelly was named Big Ten Co-Offensive Player of the Week.
Kelly was also named the NCAA.com Offensive Player of the Week and the Solomon Eye Associates Terp of the Week for his efforts.
Muller continued his dominance on the defensive end against the Tar Heels, causing a career-high three turnovers and picking up a ground ball. Muller currently leads the Big Ten in caused turnovers per game.
The reigning Kelly Award winner Bernlohr made nine saves against UNC, including a pair of back-to-back point blank saves. The senior anchored a defense that held the Tar Heels more than five goals below their season average.
Kelly was the catalyst on the offensive end for Maryland, posting a career-high six points on three goals and three assists against North Carolina. The sophomore contributed to each of the Terps' first five goals of the game.
