Facing off

• Goalkeeper Kyle Bernlohr made his first collegiate start against Navy last season to kick off a memorable individual season that culminated with first team all-america honors and the Kelly Award. Bernlohr made 12 saves in the win, holding the Midshipmen to just one goal.

• Maryland's starting attack unit carried the load offensively against Rutgers, as Colin Heacock, Dylan Maltz and Matt Rambo each tallied at least three goals in the game. The trio scored 10 of the Terps' 11 goals, including all eight goals in the second half.

•  Maryland has won six consecutive games against Navy dating back to 2010, including last season, when the Terps won 8-1. It was the first time Navy had been held to one goal in the series since 1931. Maryland holds a 56-33-1 advantage in the all-time series, which dates back to 1924.

• The Terps have been phenomenal killing EMO opportunities this season, allowing just six goals on 25 chances (24%) - a mark that ranks fifth in the nation. Among the strong showings were games against top-4 teams Yale (0-for-5) and Notre Dame (0-for-3).

• Maryland's eight-game winning streak is currently the second longest streak in the nation, trailing only Air Force, which has won 11 straight games. Navy has the third-longest streak in the nation with seven straight victories. The Terps have won at least nine of their first 11 games in four straight seasons.

• The Terrapins are 8-0 in one-goal games dating back to May 10, 2014 - the best streak in program history. It includes two wins this season and five games in 2015. The next longest such streak was a span of six one-goal wins from 2000 to 2001.

• Maryland head coach John Tillman spent 12 season as an assistant coach at Navy from 1996-2007, where he helped the Mids to more than 100 wins. From 2004-07, Navy won four consecutive Patriot League titles and made a national title game appearance.

• The Terps have been the model of consistency in college lacrosse, securing an NCAA-best 13-straight 10-win seasons since 2003. That number can be stretched to 14 with a victory against Navy. Notre Dame has the second-most consecutive 10-win seasons (10), while Duke is third (8).

• The Terrapins are 58-4 under John Tillman when scoring at least 10 goals in a game, including a spectacular mark of 39-1 over the last four seasons. That trend has continued this season with a perfect 8-0 mark.

• Junior Matt Rambo scored three goals against Rutgers to reach 92 total goals for his career, passing former teammate Jay Carlson (2012-15) for 16th on the Maryland goals list. Rambo, who has tallied a point in 30 straight games, also ranks 27th in Maryland history with 127 career points.

Coaching Match-Up

John Tillman is in his ninth season as a head coach, and sixth with the Terps, with a 92-44 career record for a .676 winning percentage. Tillman is 72-25 (.743) as Maryland's head coach.

• Navy's Rick Sowell is in his fifth season at the helm for Navy. Sowell is 0-5 lifetime against Maryland, with four losses coming at Navy and one while coaching at Dartmouth in 1999.

Series history vs. Navy

• Maryland and Navy have met every season since 1946, with 2016 marking the 71st annual matchup between the teams. The Terps lead the all-time series, 55-33-1, dating back to 1924 (89 meetings). Maryland has not lost to Navy since 2009.

• The Terps have won six straight meetings in the series - the longest streak since they defeated the Mids 11 consecutive times from 1993-2003.

• This is just the eighth time the teams have met as top-7 foes since 1978, and first time since 2004. Maryland holds a 6-2 advantage in those meetings.

• Maryland is 24-14 all-time at home against Navy, and currently riding a 3-game win streak. Navy last won in College Park by a low score of 5-4 on April 4, 2008.

Matt Rambo leads the way with six points (4g, 2a) all-time against Navy, while Henry West had two goals and an assist in last season's meeting. Senior Matt Dunn is the lone Terrapin to play in all three meetings since 2013.

Maltz leads terps past Rutgers

• Maryland claimed sole possession of first place in the Big Ten Conference April 16 as it defeated No. 18 Rutgers, 11-8, on a career-high four goals from Dylan Maltz.

• The Terps found themselves trailing, 6-3, with 12:05 remaining in the third quarter before the offense caught fire, exploding for a seven-goal run and securing a lead they would never surrender. The win marked Maryland's eighth consecutive victory.

• The run, paced entirely by the starting attack unit, saw Maltz net three of his four goals on the day, while Colin Heacock (3G) and Matt Rambo (3G, 2A) each scored two of their three tallies, giving the Terps a 10-6 lead with 7:27 remaining in the contest.

COLE'S OT WINNER PUSHES TERPS PAST PSU

• A Bryan Cole goal with 43 seconds remaining in the first overtime pushed the No. 5 Maryland men's lacrosse team to a thrilling 11-10 victory over No. 14 Penn State on April 10.

• It was the second straight game Cole had scored a game-winner for the Terps, who won their seventh consecutive game. Cole became the first Terps to score true game-winners in one-goal games since Matt Hahn achieved the feat in the 1997 NCAA playoffs.

• Maryland (8-2, 2-0 B1G) trailed by four goals, 8-4, with 9:39 remaining in the second quarter, before holding the Nittany Lions to just two goals over the remainder of the game.

Get To 10 And Win

• Since John Tillman took over the program in 2011, Maryland has won 58 of the 62 games in which it has scored 10 or more goals for a .935 winning percentage.

• The Terps have won 41 of their last 42 games when scoring at least 10 goals, only falling to Johns Hopkins during that streak in 2015.

2016 8-0
2015 12-1  Johns Hopkins, 12-15
2014 11-0
2013 8-0
2012 10-2 at UNC, 10-11; at Colgate, 11-13
2011 9-1 Johns Hopkins, 11-12 ot

Holding Opponents To Single-Digits

• Maryland is 64-10 since Tillman took over the program in 2011 when it allows nine goals or less, for an .865 winning percentage.

• The Terps are 40-5 over the last three seasons when allowing less than 10 goals.

Consecutive 10-Win Seasons

• Maryland's 11-10 win over 19th-ranked Loyola on April 8, 2015 extended the Terps' streak of double-digit win seasons to 13, which is the longest active streak in NCAA Division I men's lacrosse.

• There are only four programs with a current streak of at least seven-straight 10-win seasons:

  • Maryland (13): 2015 (15-4), 2014 (13-4), 2013 (10-4), 2012 (12-6), 2011 (13-5), 2010 (12-4), 2009 (10-7), 2008 (10-6), 2007 (10-6), 2006 (12-5), 2005 (11-6), 2004 (13-3), 2003 (12-4)

  • North Carolina (7): 2015 (13-4), 2014 (10-5), 2013 (13-4), 2012 (11-6), 2011 (10-6), 2010 (13-3), 2009 (12-6)

TERPS' 91st SEASON OF LACROSSE

• The Terps boast an all-time record of 775-261-4 (.740), dating back to the first varsity team in 1924 (a team was not fielded in 1944 and 1945 due to World War II). Maryland has finished every one of its previous 90 seasons with a .500 or better record, including last season when the Terps went 15-4. The program reached the 700-win milestone with a 15-6 victory over Penn on April 14, 2009 at Ludwig Field.

• During the decade of the 2000s, Maryland went 111-49 for a .694 win percentage, making it the winningest decade in Terrapin lacrosse history. In the decade of the 1990s, Maryland posted a 95-47 record. The .669 winning percentage matched Maryland's win percentage of the 1980s when the Terps went 83-41 and also compiled a .669 win percentage.

• So far, Maryland is 53-17 in the 2010's for a .757 winning percentage - on pace for the best decade in Maryland history.
