Eight Terrapins Named All-America

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The No. 1 Maryland men's lacrosse team has had eight players selected to the 2016 USILA/Nike All-American Team, as announced by the USILA Saturday morning. The Terps now have 476 All-America selections in their illustrious history.

Senior midfielder Bryan Cole and junior short stick midfielder Isaiah Davis-Allen led the way as First Team selections, while junior attackman Matt Rambo, senior defender Matt Dunn and senior goalkeeper Kyle Bernlohr were named to the Second Team. Dunn and Bernlohr are both two-time All-America selections.

The Third Team featured senior long stick midfielder Greg Danseglio and junior defender Tim Muller, while junior attackman Colin Heacock was named Honorable Mention.

Cole has had a career-best season, leading the team with 27 assist and also adding 21 goals. The Oakville, Ontario, native scored a pair of game-winning goals to defeat Michigan and Penn State in back-to-back games earlier this season.

Davis-Allen emerged as the top short stick defensive midfielder in the country this season by many respects, serving as a shut-down defender and also as a key component on the faceoff wing. He has totaled 36 ground balls and caused 10 turnovers, while also adding three goals as one of the Terps' emotional leaders.

Rambo has been on fire for the Terps during the final stretch of the season, including 22 points over his last four games. The Glenside, Pa., native recently became the first Maryland player since Joe Walters (2006) to reach the 60-point mark in a single-season. Rambo currently has 39 goals and 24 assists.

Dunn earned his second consecutive All-America nod by anchoring one of the nation's premier defenses, posting 11 ground balls and six turnovers. He was also named a Senior CLASS Award First Team All-American for his work on the field, in the classroom and in the community.

Bernlohr earned his second straight All-America honor after setting a program record for wins in a single-season (16), while posting a 7.63 goals against average and a .552 save percentage. Bernlohr has amassed an amazing 31-6 record as a starter over the past two seasons, allowing more than 10 goals just twice.

Danseglio has been a welcomed addition in his first season as a starter for the Terps, leading Maryland with 61 ground balls while also causing 16 turnovers. The Virginia transfer has been key to the Terps' success on faceoffs all season, while helping lead one of the nation's top defensive units.

Muller quickly emerged as one of the top defenders in the country in his first full season as a starter. A three-time winner of Big Ten Defender of the Week, Muller led the Terps with 23 caused turnovers and also compiled 34 ground balls.

Heacock pieced together a phenomenal breakout season in 2016, posting career-highs in points (46), goals (37) and assists (9). The junior had a career-best 14-goal scoring streak during the season, while also collecting 23 ground balls.

Maryland returns to action Saturday at 2:30 pm on ESPN2 as it takes on Brown in the NCAA Final Four in Philadelphia, Pa., at Lincoln Financial Field.
