CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - Freshman Alecia Farina placed third in the all-around as the Maryland gymnastics team competed in the Big Five meet Saturday. The Terps posted a 193.375 while Nebraska placed first with a 196.650, followed by Illinois (196.450), Ohio State (195.350) and Michigan State (194.650).

Farina earned a 38.825. Freshman Kirsten Peterman also competed in the all-around, earning a 38.300.

The Terps began the meet on bars, where the team tallied a 48.850. Senior Sarah Faller started Maryland off with a 9.825 and Peterman followed with a 9.700. Sophomore Shynelle Agaran posted a 9.750 and junior Evelyn Nee earned a 9.800. Farina anchored with a 9.775.

Maryland moved to beam, where the team faltered with a 47.425. Agaran led the Terps on the apparatus with a 9.775.

After a bye, the Terps competed on floor and earned a 48.425. Senior Leah Slobodin performed a 9.825 while Farina and senior Emily Brauckmuller finished the rotation with a 9.800 and 9.825, respectively.

The Terps finished the meet on vault and the team earned a 48.675. Peterman led off with a 9.775, a score freshman Morgan Bixler and Farina matched. Faller anchored with a 9.725.

The Terps return to action next Saturday at the Big Ten Championships in Piscataway, N.J. Maryland will compete in the earlier session at noon against Michigan State, Minnesota and Rutgers on the Big Ten Network.
