HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. -- Brandon Cray and
Josh Ugalde each advanced to Saturday's Blood Round as the Maryland wrestling team wrapped up the 56th Annual Ken Kraft Midlands Championships on Saturday.
Both wrestlers lost by decision in the round that determines whether the wrestler places in the event. Cray fell via a 2-1 decision to Justin Cardani (Illinois) after Cardani earned points via a hands to the face penalty and riding time. Ugalde dropped his match to Ben Harvey (Army West Point), 7-2.
The two New Jersey natives shined throughout the event, with each picking up a trio of victories. Cray tallied two pins in the 125-pound flight, while Ugalde upset the 14th and third-seeded wrestlers in the 174-pound weight class.

Maryland will be back in action when it begins conference play, traveling to Purdue for a dual with the Boilermakers on Jan. 11. The Terps will then close out that road trip with a match at Indiana on Jan. 13 before returning home to host Nebraska on Jan. 18.
