GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The Terps saw a lot of action over the weekend competing at the Florida Relays in both individual and team relay events.  In addition, a group stayed local competing at the Naval Academy's springtime invitational.

Highlights from the individual events at Florida Relays showcased performances on the field and on the track.  Sam Shoultz continued to dominate competing in the elite section of the men's high jump competition.  Shoultz jumped a personal best of 2.23m (7'3 ¾”).  This mark moves him into one of the top positions in the NCAA.

Greg Thompson and Emma O'Hara both competed in the invitational sections of the throwing events and performed at a high level.  Thompson threw a season best of 57.99m in the men's discus to place 3rd.  O'Hara threw 59.48m in the hammer competition, to finish 4th in the field.  Claudia Ababio threw 56.90m in the collegiate section of the hammer.  Ababio also competed in the shot put posting a mark of 15.23m.  In the invitational section of the discus Ababio placed 4th with a mark of 53.47m. 

Jewel Smith and Kayla Richardson both posted top ten finishes in the invitational long jump.  Smith placed 4th with a jump of 5.94m (19'6 ¾”) while Richardson placed 7th in 5.83m (19'1 ½”).

On the track, Jai'lyn Merriweather continued her success in the 400m dash, posting a time of 54.77.  For the men, Aaron Robinson cross the line in 48.22 for a strong run in the 400m. 

Three Terps toed the line in the 400m hurdles with Xahria Santiago running 1:00.90, followed by Thaila Cooper (1:01.28), and Dallyssa Huggins (1:02.04).  In the 100m hurdles, Peyton Wade posted a time of 14.47, while freshman Nadia Hackett ran 14.84.  In the men's 110m hurdles, Diego Lyon ran 14.87 to start off his outdoor season. 

TJ Bleichner posted a season best time in the 800m run finishing in 1:52.28.  In the evening distance events, Christine Laurie ran 4:31.45 in the 1500m.  Louis Corgliano capped off the evening races with a 3rd place finish and personal best performance in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 9:05.48.

Heading into the relay events, the Terps turned their focus to teamwork as they passed the baton around the track.  The sprint medley relay team comprised of Cheyenne Jones (200m), Nadia Hackett (200m), Thaila Cooper (400m), and Christine Laurie (800m) posted a time of 4:03.37.  The men's sprint medley relay crew also put together a solid performance with a finishing time of 3:27.79.  The quartet included Gaston Assoua (200m), Diego Lyon (200m), Aaron Robinson (400m), and TJ Bleichner (800m).

The women's 4x100m relay team knocked over a second off of their time from the last competition finishing in 46.95 (Smith, Richardson, Baxter, D. Merriweather). 

Competing in Annapolis, at the Naval Academy, several distance Terps posted season best marks.  Patrick Hanley won the men's 5000m competition finishing in 14:44.28.  Kathryn Gearhart competed in the women's 5000m run crossing the line in 17:51.27.

In the 3000m steeplechase, Aaron Barlev placed 2nd with a time of 9:22.79.  Courtney Mann ran the 3k steeplechase for the first time and crossed the line in 11:52.15.  William Jones ran 4:04.02 in the men's 1500m for a solid performance.  Emily McAllister crossed the line in 4:52.93 in the women's 1500m run.

The Terps will be back in action at the UVA Quad Meet in Charlottesville, VA on April 7th.
