Alexandrova, Stretton to Make Season Debuts

COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Maryland's Eva Alexandrova and Millie Stretton will make their season debuts this weekend, traveling to Texas for the Rice Invitational.

The duo, which is the 22nd-ranked doubles tandem in the country, will participate in both the doubles and singles flights. Teams scheduled to participate in the event include Alabama, Houston, Oklahoma, McNeese, SMU, South Florida and Stephen F. Austin.

Alexandrova will be playing in the first singles flight, taking on Ana Roman of South Florida in the first round. Stretton, who is playing in the second singles flight, will battle Ana Perez-Lopez of SMU in the opening round.

The two will team up in doubles to take on Dzenga/Klaric of South Florida in the first doubles flight.

Alexandrova and Stretton dominated during the 2017-18 season. The two posted an impressive 16-2 record while playing in the top spot of Maryland's doubles lineup, including an upset win over the fourth-ranked doubles pair of Lipp/Larner during the Big Ten Championships.

An All-Big Ten selection during her freshman season, Alexandrova also tallied 11 singles victories while playing in the top two spots of Maryland's lineup. Stretton also had a strong singles season for the Terrapins, leading the team with 16 victories while playing in the third spot of Maryland's lineup.
