COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Senior faceoff specialist Austin Henningsen was named the Big Ten Specialist of the Week in a release made by the conference offices Tuesday afternoon. The honor comes after a career performance from the Northport, N.Y. native on February 9, where he won 15-of-15 faceoffs for the Terps in their 10-9 win over Richmond.

Henningsen made history against the Spiders, becoming the first player in Big Ten history to post a perfect faceoff percentage (15-for-15, 100%) with at least 15 wins. Henningsen is also the only Terp with at least 10 faceoff wins and a perfect 100% clip since at least 2000, and he's the first Division I player this season to post 15+ faceoff wins and a perfect win percentage. 

Henningsen came through clutch late against Richmond, winning the final faceoff of the game with two minutes remaining to give Maryland the last possession of the game for the win. This is the third career Big Ten Specialist of the Week honor for Henningsen.

Austin and the rest of the Maryland lacrosse team will return to action on Saturday, February 16 when the Terps travel to play Penn in Philadelphia, Pa.
