Kulkarni Wins Vs. George Washington

COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Sophomore Zoe Kulkarni picked up her third singles victory in as many matches, but the Maryland women's tennis team (1-2, 0-0 B1G) fell to George Washington, 6-1, on Saturday.

The Boca Raton, Florida native posted a 6-4, 6-0, victory at the sixth singles position to continue her strong start to the 2019 season. She enters the season following an impressive 11-win freshman campaign.

George Washington narrowly took the doubles point, winning matches at second and third doubles to take the first point of the match. Maryland's top doubles tandem of Eva Alexandrova and Millie Stretton were on serve down 4-5 when their match was ruled unfinished.

The Colonials then took five-of-six singles matches, including an abbreviated three-set win at third singles.

Maryland will be back in action on Saturday, Feb. 9, traveling to VCU to take on the Rams in Richmond. Opening serve is scheduled for 11 a.m.
