COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- The Maryland women's tennis team (1-2, 0-0 B1G) will travel to Richmond, Virginia on Saturday, taking on the VCU Rams in a Saturday matinee. The match is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.Â
LAST TIME OUT
Maryland split a pair of home matches last week, knocking off Georgetown, 4-3, but falling to George Washington on Saturday.Â
The Terps were led by the strong play of sophomore
Zoe Kulkarni, who won both of her singles matches at the sixth singles spot. The Boca Raton, Florida native is coming off an 11-win freshman campaign.Â
The win over Georgetown also saw a pair of victories from
Millie Stretton, who was victorious in both doubles and singles action. The senior won 6-1 at second doubles before picking up a straight-set win at the third singles position.Â
SCOUTING THE RAMS
VCU enters Saturday's contest after posting a 7-0 win over Davidson in their last outing. The Rams won in dominant fashion, winning all two-of-three doubles matches on top of their six singles wins. All six singles triumphs came in straight-sets.Â
The win moved VCU to 3-2 on the year, with wins over Drexel and Campbell earlier this season. The Rams losses came in the ITA Kick-off Event, where they fell to third-ranked North Carolina, as well as Big Ten opponent Michigan State.Â

Maryland found success in the fall campaign, participating in five events during the early season slate.Â

All eight players on Maryland's roster have at least one season of collegiate tennis under their belt. The roster also includes seven returners from the 2018 squad, with the lone addition being Kansas transferÂ

Millie Stretton. Sullivan is entering her fourth season in College Park, while Stretton will compete in her second season as a Terrapin after transferring from Kansas State.Â

Playing at the top spot in Maryland's doubles and singles lineups, Alexandrova's 11 singles and 16 doubles triumphs earned her All-Big Ten honors.Â
Kulkarni anchored Maryland's singles lineup, claiming 10 singles wins that included four in conference play.Â
ACADEMIC PLAUDITS
The Terps were successful in the classroom last season, with three current members of the squad earning 2018 ITA All-Academic honors.Â

Saya Usui represented the Terrapins on the list, which includes student-athletes who are varsity letter-winners and have a GPA of at least a 3.5.Â
Maryland also earned the ITA All-Academic Team award, which goes to a program that has a cumulative GPA of 3.20 or above for the academic year.Â
