Terps Host Indiana in Big Ten Opener

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland baseball team opens Big Ten play against Indiana at Bob "Turtle" Smith Stadium this weekend. The Terps and Hoosiers open up their three-game set Friday night at 6:30 p.m.
  • Fans should take note of a few traffic/parking related items prior to attending this weekend's series. All weekend, Fieldhouse Drive leading eastbound towards Bob "Turtle" Smith Stadium will be closed due to Cole Field House construction. However, fans will be able to walk down a pedestrian sidewalk on Fieldhouse Drive from Lot 1 towards the stadium,

  • Maryland is 4-8 against Indiana all-time, with all 12 meeting coming since the Terps entered the Big Ten Conference. Indiana has won all three conference series with Maryland, while the Terps won all three contests with the Hoosiers in the Big Ten Tournament.
  • Maryland's Friday ace Hunter Parsons matched his career high with 10 strikeouts in a losing effort against Creighton last weekend. Parsons set that career high against Stetson earlier in the season. It's been a great senior season so far for Parsons, who ranks in the top-15 in the Big Ten in ERA, innings pitched, strikeouts and wins.
  • Freshman Maxwell Costes has been fantastic so far this season, earning two Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors and a Big Ten Player of the Week plaudit. He is second on the team in average (.279), RBIs (19) and leads the Big Ten in being hit by pitches (10).
  • Senior Taylor Wright has taken a step up in his second season after coming to Maryland from the JUCO ranks prior to the 2018 season. Wright has done a little bit of everything: he leads the conference in doubles (10) while leading Maryland in average (.297) and hits (27). Wright also has six steals and has walked 15 times.
  • Freshman right-handed pitcher Will Glock has been thrown in to all types of situations this season, made evident by his 12 appearances, a mark that leads the Big Ten. Glock has earned three wins this season, which is in the top-10 in the conference.
  • Senior shortstop AJ Lee has been on fire since returning from injury, batting .320 with a .500 on-base percentage in his last eight games. Lee has seven RBIs and three doubles during that span, both marks that lead the team.
  • Indiana enters this weekend coming off a sparkling start to conference play; a home sweep of Iowa. The Hoosiers pack a punch at the plate as they lead the conference with 39 home runs, a number that is 14 more than second-place Ohio State. Cole Barr leads the Big Ten with nine bombs.
