Head coach John Tillman is 17-10 all-time vs. top-five teams and 17-3 in Big Ten regular season play as the head coach of Maryland. The Terrapins are on the quest for their fifth straight Big Ten regular season title.
STORYLINES BY THE NUMBERS
3 – John Tillman is 3-1 against No. 1 ranked teams during his tenure at Maryland, including a 15-11 victory over Penn State when the Nittany Lions came to College Park as the nation's top-ranked team in 2017.
5 – Maryland begins its quest for its fifth straight regular season Big Ten title Sunday under head coach John Tillman. Tillman is 17-3 overall in Big Ten regular season play since the conference formed for lacrosse in 2015, and has also captured two tournament titles at the helm in 2016 and 2017.Â
8 – Sophomore Logan Wisnauskas racked up several weekly awards after tying his career-high in points against #19 North Carolina on March 23, as he was named the Revenant/Inside Lacrosse National Player of the Week, the Warriror/USL National Player of the Week and the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week. Wisnauskas, playing in his 28th collegiate game Sunday, stands just four points away from reaching 100 career points.     Â
8.97 – Fifth-year senior goalie Danny Dolan has been a lynchpin in the net for the Terps this season in his first year as the team's starter, ranking eighth in the country in goals against average (8.97). He's also in the top-20 nationally in save percentage, ranking 17th (55.6%).
22 – Senior face-off specialist Austin Henningsen turned in a historical performance against the 19th-ranked Tar Heels on March 23, winning a career-high 22 faceoffs for a .846 winning percentage. The mark ranks second all-time in program history for faceoffs won in a game, behind only to Andy Claxton's 27 wins vs. Towson in 1991. Henningsen currently ranks fifth in the country in face-off win percentage (66.9%).
23 – Maryland held its opponent to under 10 goals for the seventh time this season with its 16-9 win over North Carolina, extending the team's winning streak to an incredible 23 games when holding opponents to 10 goals or less. 10 goals has been the magic number for John Tillman on both sides of the ball during his tenure at Maryland, holding a 96-11 record when opponents score less than 10 and a 98-11 mark when the Terps score 10+ goals.
36 – Maryland has never lost to Penn State, holding a 36-0 advantage in the all-time series between the two schools, which began in 1924. The teams have played two one-goal games in the past three seasons, including an 11-10 overtime win in State College in 2016 and 13-12 win for the Terps on the road last year.   Â
50 – Sophomore Logan Wisnauskas is four points away from amassing 50+ points for the second consecutive season. The Sykesville, Md. native would become the first player in program history to record at least 50 points in back-to-back seasons as a freshman and sophomore.
