#5 Terps Face #16 Johns Hopkins in B1G Semis

#5 Maryland (11-3) vs. #16 Johns Hopkins (7-6)

COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Third-seeded Maryland and No. 2 seed Johns Hopkins will meet for the second time in five days Thursday, May 2 when the teams play in the semifinals of the Big Ten Tournament. The 112th meeting between the two schools marks the first back-to-back matchup of the two programs in series history.

This year's tournament is hosted at Highpoint.com Stadium in Piscataway, N.J. The game will be broadcast on the Big Ten Network at approximately 7:30 pm following the evening's other semifinal matchup between top-seeded Penn State and fourth-seeded Rutgers.

STORYLINES BY THE NUMBERS

1 – Maryland won its third one-goal game of the season on April 20 at No. 9 Ohio State, thanks in part to the player who wears No. 1, Jared Bernhardt. The Longwood, Fla. native delivered the game-winning goal in overtime just 31 seconds into the extra period, his third game-winning goal of the year.

3 – Maryland had three players earn All-Big Ten honors on Tuesday in senior Curtis Corley, junior Jared Bernhardt and sophomore Logan Wisnauskas. Corley and Bernhardt were both named first team selections, while Wisnauskas garnered a spot on the second team.

4 – Maryland spread out the scoring in the team's come-from-behind win over Rutgers on April 14, with four different players recording a hat trick in the 16-13 victory. It was the first time since at least 1998 that four different Terps recorded a hat trick in the same game. Of the 10 teams in Division I lacrosse to produce four hat trick scorers in the same game this season, Maryland reached the feat in the fewest goals scored overall (16).

5 – Maryland is 5-2 all-time in the Big Ten Tournament, which includes back-to-back tournament championships in 2017 and 2018. Thursday marks the second-ever Big Ten Tournament meeting between Maryland and Hopkins.

7 – Sophomore Roman Puglise scored Maryland's first man down goal in over seven years last weekend vs. Johns Hopkins, scoring in transition at the 5:07 mark in the first quarter. The goal was assisted by senior goalie Danny Dolan – the first of his collegiate career. Maryland's last man down goal came on February 6, 2012 from Joe Cummings vs. UMBC.

10 – Maryland held Ohio State to under 10 goals for just the third time for the Buckeyes this season in the Terps' 10-9 OT victory on April 20. Under head coach John Tillman, Maryland has won an incredible 24 straight games when holding opponents to under 10 goals.

17 – Maryland has extended its NCAA-best streak of consecutive double-digit win seasons to 17 after defeating Rutgers 16-13 on April 14. Maryland is just one of two programs nationally that has a streak of 10 or more seasons with at least 10 wins (Duke – 13).

69 – Logan Wisnauskas's 69 points this season ranks 10th all-time in program history and second most by a Maryland sophomore. He needs just five points to tie Jack Heim's sophomore record of 74 points set in 1965, and his 4.93 points per game average ranks 11th nationally.
