TEMPE, Ariz. --
Millie Stretton, who graduated this spring with a degree in Sociology, was recognized for her academic excellence on Thursday and was named a 2019 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Scholar-Athlete. This is Stretton's second Academic All-American honor.Â
Stretton, who was also named Spring Academic All-Big Ten, led the team in singles (6) and doubles (8) wins in 2019. Stretton was featured at Maryland's top singles spot in three matches, and the top doubles spot alongside
Eva Alexandrova in their seven wins together. This fall, Stretton will pursue an MBA at Marymount University while serving as a graduate assistant women's tennis coach in the Saints' inaugural season.Â
To earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status, a student-athlete must have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale), be a varsity letter winner and be enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters.
To achieve ITA All-Academic Team honors, the team must achieve a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale).
