COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- The Maryland women's tennis team will stay at home this weekend, taking on Columbia on Sat. Feb 1, and VCU on Sun. Feb 2 in the Junior Tennis Champions Center. Both matches will begin at noon.
Maryland is coming off two wins against Towson and Coppin State to stay undefeated at home.
Several Terps remain unbeaten, most notably freshman Ayana Akli at the No.1 doubles and singles spot, as well as freshman and newcomer Adela Josefova, winning at her No. 3 and No. 4 singles spots in her debut collegiate matches.
The Terps (4-0) will first face Columbia (2-2) on Saturday, who enter the weekend coming off two losses against Old Dominion and Auburn. Maryland is 5-4 all time against the Lions.
The weekend will end with a match against VCU (2-1). Maryland has faced VCU three times leading up to the 2020 season, with the Rams holding a 2-1 all-time advantage against the Terps. VCU will be facing Duquesne on Friday after defeating East Carolina 5-4 before heading to College Park.
