No. 24 Maryland Gymnastics Hosts Rutgers Sunday

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The No. 24 Maryland gymnastics team will host Big Ten opponent Rutgers on Sunday, February 16 in the XFINITY Center at 1:00 p.m. 

This marks the fifth-annual Beauty and the Beast meet where the gymnastics and wrestling teams will compete simultaneously on the XFINITY Center main floor with the gymnasts facing Rutgers and the wrestlers taking on Northwestern.

Admission to the event is $10 for adults and $5 for youth and seniors. Tickets can be purchased online here. Parking is free.

"We're excited about participating in such a unique event," said head coach Brett Nelligan. "Combining two exciting sports and their respective environments should bring a lot of energy to the building."

Maryland is currently 5-2 overall, 2-2 in the Big Ten and 2-0 in XFINITY Center. The Terps return home after their season-low 193.525 looking to improve in front of the home crowd. 

Rutgers is currently ranked No. 40 in the nation. The Scarlet Knights are coming off their sixth loss of the season earning a score of 193.800 in a loss to Michigan State. Rutgers' best events are beam and bars where they are nationally ranked No. 26 and No. 38, respectively. The Scarlet Knights all-around season-high is a 195.700.

BEAUTY AND THE BEAST: Gymnastics will share the floor with Wrestling for this special meet. 

LOVE DAY: Fans are encouraged to wear red and will receive red pom-poms to wave during the meet in honor of Valentine's Day Weekend.

AUTOGRAPH SESSION: Fans are invited to stick around after the meet for an autograph session with the GymTerps.
