Solomon Eye Terp of the Week: Ashley Owusu

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Each week during the 2021-22 season a Maryland student-athlete, who has shown excellence on and off the playing field, will be selected as the Solomon Eye Terp of the Week.

This week's Solomon Eye Terp of the Week is junior point guard Ashley Owusu of Maryland women's basketball.

Owusu had an incredible weekend averaging 18.7 points, 4.7 assists, and 2.7 rebounds per game. The Woodbridge, Virginia, native capped off the weekend with a monster performance of 24 points, 6 assists, 4 rebounds in the Terps' 79-76 victory over No.6 Baylor.

In the fourth quarter of Sunday's game, Owusu posted up her Baylor defender, drove to the paint, and scored her 1,000th career point. She's now the 35th Terp in program history to reach the mark and the second this season after Chloe Bibby did so against Villanova.

Owusu and the now 6-0 Terps head to The Bahamas for the Baha Mar Hoops Plink Flamingo Championship where it'll face top-ten foes NC State and Stanford this upcoming week.
