EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Maryland women's tennis is set to face Michigan State at 11:00am on Saturday, Feb. 12 to open the 2021 regular season. The Terps will then face Michigan in Ann Arbor the following day at noon.
This matchup will be the first of the official 2021 spring season, occurring nearly an entire year since the Terps' last outing in 2020 when the remainder of the season was canceled due to growing concerns of the COVID-19 pandemic. Maryland finished the season 8-5 and 1-0 in Big Ten play.
Sophomore
Ayana Akli enters the match ranked No. 89 by the International Tennis Association (ITA), coming off a successful first year. As a freshman, Akli finished her season 10-1 overall at the No.1 spot, and earned two conference recognitions for Player of the Week and Freshman of the Year.

Katie Dougherty will be entering her second season, along with assistant coach
Dan Pollock. The Terps will have seven veterans returning in sophomores

Chloe Hamlin and seniors
Eva Alexandrova,
Zoe Kulkarni, and
Amber Policare. Two new faces join the 2021 season in freshman
Minorka Miranda and sophomore
Ebony Sampson.
