COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Maryland Athletics is leading boldly in announcing a new initiative where student-athletes who have received their undergraduate degrees will be recognized with a special commemorative patch on their uniforms for the remainder of their careers. 
 
Debuting this week at Maryland's football, field hockey, soccer and volleyball competitions, Terrapin student-athletes who earned degrees from the University of Maryland or other four-year institutions will have "Graduate" emblazoned on their uniform top. 
 
"Earning your college degree is an achievement that takes discipline, commitment, and perseverance. We are proud of our student-athletes who have achieved excellence in the classroom while also competing at the highest level," said Athletics Director Damon Evans. "We wanted to recognize these student-athletes by celebrating that accomplishment with a special patch on their Maryland uniforms. With this new initiative, our graduates will earn attention from their teammates and staff as well supporters and fans watching in the stadium or on television. We couldn't be prouder to debut the new Graduate patches this week."
 
Maryland is the first Big Ten Conference school to wear a patch on its uniform indicating graduates. 
 
A total of 56 Terrapin student-athletes will be donning the "Graduate" patch for the 2021-22 season with additional graduates to be added after the Fall semester graduation. Below is a list of the graduates.
