Jones, Thomas Set for FIBA World Cup Gold Medal Game

SYDNEY -- Maryland women's basketball legends Brionna Jones and Alyssa Thomas and the rest of the U.S. Women's National Team will take on China in the FIBA World Cup Gold Medal Game Saturday in Sydney, Australia. 

The Gold Medal Game will tip off at 2 a.m. ET and will be aired on ESPN2 and ESPN+. 

Jones is averaging 11.8 points and 5.8 rebounds through the USA's seven games so far. Thomas is averaging 10.6 points, 6.7 rebounds and 4.6 assists so far. Jones scored a team-high 24 points and eight rebounds in a group phase win over South Korea, 145-69, on Sept. 26. 

Jones and Thomas are on the Connecticut Sun and advance to the WNBA Finals. Their Finals run ended Sunday, Sept. 18, then the duo traveled to Australia to join Team USA. Earlier in the WNBA season, both of them were named to the WNBA All-Star Game.

The USA won its group phase contest over China, 77-63, as it moved to 7-0 in tournament history against China. The game was the U.S.'s closest of the tournament. Click here for more on the FIBA World Cup and here for more on USA Basketball.
