College Park, MD -- Maryland baseball starting pitcher
Kyle McCoy has been named D1Baseball and Big Ten Pitcher of the Week as well as conference Co-Freshman of the Week, each organization announced Monday.
McCoy, who earns his first career conference honor had a stellar day on Sunday, March 26 earning his second consecutive Sunday start and win in an 8-6 series-clinching victory over UCF. The Ringoes, New Jersey native pitched eight shutout innings, allowing just 3 hits, no walks, while totaling a career-high nine strikeouts.
McCoy also earned Terp of the Week recognition for his performance. Each week during the 2022-23 season a Maryland student-athlete, who has shown excellence on and off the playing field, is selected as the Solomon Eye Physicians & Surgeons Terp of the Week.
The Terps return home for one game against Georgetown at Bob 'Turtle' Smith Stadium at 4 p.m. Tuesday. The game will be broadcast on B1G+ and the Maryland Baseball Network.
