COLLEGE PARK, MD -- Maryland wrestling completed its annual Red-Black Match on Friday evening, with the Red team coming away with a 34-16 victory.

The match featured 14 individual bouts, with several either coming down to overtime periods or being decided by one position.

Three matches stood out with the winners having a good shot at seeing a spot in the lineup for the first couple weeks of the regular season.

First, Tyler Garvin won the battle at 125 pounds. Presden Sanchez beat Abram Cline 3-1 with a slick reversal in overtime. Garvin, who was set to face the winner of that match, then defeated Sanchez by a 4-2 decision.

At 141 pounds, a second-period takedown for Michael Pizzuto was the difference in a 4-1 victory over Clayton Gabrielson. 

And finally, Ryan Money defeated John Martin Best 7-4 in overtime in a matchup between the two 165-pounders.

The Terps will kick off the regular season on Sunday, Nov. 3 when they host Kent State (2 PM) and Bucknell (4 PM) in a tri-meet, with the two visiting teams wrestling each other at noon.
