Ruppel, Laake Garner Big Ten Weekly Honors

COLLEGE PARK, MD — Maryland men's lacrosse players Brian Ruppel and Peter Laake earned Big Ten weekly honors for their performances in the Terps' 13–12 triple-overtime win over Virginia this past Saturday.

Senior goalie Brian Ruppel was named Big Ten Specialist of the Week after recording a season-high 14 saves in the victory. He also caused a turnover in the first overtime to give Maryland possession and made two key back-to-back saves in the third overtime to help the Terps regain possession—setting up the game-winning goal. Ruppel also collected three ground balls in the win.

Sophomore defenseman Peter Laake earned Defensive Player of the Week honors after leading the Terps' defensive effort. Laake recorded two caused turnovers and four ground balls, playing a key role in Maryland's 13–12 triple-overtime victory.
