Steve Rivers is an exceptionally quick guard who loves to shoot the jumper but can drive to the basket. He can play either guard position. He had his finest game against the North Carolina State National Champions in Cole Field House as he led the Terps with a career high 29 points. He hit 11 of 14 field goal attempts in the game and six of seven three pointers. For the season he hit 22 of 39 three point attempts for .564 percentage. He was three for three on three point attempts against Virginia and five for five from the floor in the game as the Terps dropped an 83-81 decision in Ralph Sampson's last home game. In the ACC tournament he hit three of five three pointers against Georgia Tech and had 13 points in the game. He played in 25 games last year and started five games on the point. He had a 5.5 scoring average and hit .556 of his 99 field goal attempts. Steve had 129 points in his first two years as he played in 5 1 games and started one game as a sophomore. He had 1 37 points last year. He excels in the running, transitional game. Has played well in the Urban Coalition League during the summers since he came to Maryland. Joined the Terps from Lutheran High on Long Island where he was named to the All-State and All-Long Island teams. He enjoys playing Tennis and music when not on the Basketball court.
