Feb. 4, 2000

TOWSON, Md. - Junior Jill Fisher (Huntington, N.Y.) earned a perfect 10 in the floor exercise to lead the No. 23 Maryland women's gymnastics team to a first place finish at the fifth annual Governor's Cup with a team score of 195.950. No. 22 Towson finished second with a 194.775, followed by No. 14 North Carolina State coming in at third with a 193.750. North Carolina placed fourth with a 191.525. Maryland's team score is the highest in school history.

Fisher's score is the first time in school history that a gymnast has earned a perfect 10 in any event. The previous floor exercise record was 9.925, also set by Fisher against Radford on Jan. 28. Fisher was an All-American on floor in 1998 and earned a perfect 10 at nationals.

Sophomore Gillian Cote (Fredericksburg, Va.) finished first in the all-around with a 39.325, just slightly ahead of sophomore Laura Moon (Scottsdale, Ariz.) who finished second with a 39.225. Moon also finished second on bars with a 9.850.
