Day Five Results from Maryland Swimmers At U.S. Olympic Trials

Indianapolis, Ind.- University of Maryland swimmers Suzy Catterson (Reno, Nv.), Katy Novotny (Bel Air, Md.) and Jill Martin (Orlando, Fla.) all competed Sunday at the U.S. Olympic trials held in Indianapolis, Ind.

Catterson, a transfer from the University of Nevada-Reno, finished 25th with a time of 57.07 in the preliminaries of the 100-yard freestyle. The 25th place finish was the highest for a Maryland swimmer so far at the Olympic trials. Novotny also swam in the 100-yard freestyle and placed 84th with a time of 59.06. Martin placed 94th in the preliminaries of the 200-yard breaststroke in a time of 2:44.77.

Monday the Terps will have a pair of men in action in Indianapolis. Senior Drew Childs (Wallingford, Pa.) will swim in the 50-yard freestyle while fellow senior Aaron Peterson (Fredericksburg, Va.) is set to compete in the 100-yard butterfly.
