After two more walks by senior first baseman Chuck Easter (Baltimore, Md.) and sophomore designated hitter John McCurdy (Crofton, Md.), senior third baseman Steve Oursler delivered a two-run single to left to increase the Terps' lead to 3-0. Maryland kept the pressure on with three more first inning runs to make the score 6-0.
In the bottom of the first, the Aggies scored on a sacrifice fly delivered by Austin Love after Adonis Smith tripled to lead off the Aggie first.

Dallmeyer fanned one to pick up his second save as a Terp. Senior pitcher Mark Martin (Manassas, Va.) started the game for Maryland and went five innings to earn the win.
